sol. picture perfect

Twice a year, witness the stunning juxtaposition of our glorious, fiery sol and the tall, hard lines of the city’s skyscrapers, as the setting sun aligns with the east–west streets of Manhattan.

Dubbed “Manhattanhenge” by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson after its similarity to the sunsets at Stonehenge on the solstices, this beautiful phenomenon can be seen in May (sunrise) and July (sunset) every year.

Twice a year, on this wonderful tool we call the internet, you can find the captured essence.
Once in a while, there comes a truly breathtaking photo.

  1. Wow! I was just reading that last night in the Guardian online! Great photos and another example of the US writing it’s very own ancient history :)
